The Next Generation Foundation has graciously granted the Sunrise County Economic Council (SCEC) nearly $70,000 to support the Sunrise Scholarship Fund.
The Fund provides scholarships of up to $500 to Washington County residents of low-to-moderate income, who will be attending training and/or certification programs that will increase their opportunities for immediate employment or job advancement.
“The Next Generation Foundation is pleased to give new life to SCEC’s scholarship program for adults needing career-related training or certification. The Trustees were impressed with the work being done by SCEC to help Washington County realize its potential,” said a representative from the Next Generation Foundation.
“As a direct result of the Next Generation Foundation’s generous support, at least 120 working age adults will receive training to help them obtain or advance their employment. This can make a huge difference for their families and represents a significant investment in our region’s economy,” explained SCEC Executive Director Charles Rudelitch.
“On average, scholarship recipients saw a pay increase of $2.50 per hour thanks … to the training they received through the Sunrise Scholarship Fund. This grant from Next Generation Foundation can mean a better quality of life for many of Down East Maine’s working families,” said SCEC’s Assistant Director, Jennifer Peters.
