Improve your Equipment or Operational Efficiency with Grant and Loan Funds.

Eligible Projects may include:

  • Lighting efficiency
  • Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC)
  • Insulation
  • Cooling/refrigeration units
  • Doors and window replacement
  • Electric solar or gravity pumps for sprinkler pivots
  • Energy conversion from diesel to electric irrigation motor
  • Energy Efficient equipment upgrades.
  • Fuel switching to Biomass or geothermal
  • Hydropower (<30Megawatts)
  • Hydrogen power
  • Small and large solar
  • Ocean generation (tidal, etc.)

Conserve energy, reduce costs, and protect the environment.

Who is Eligible?

  • Rural Small Business owners
  • Agricultural Producers
  • Cooperatives
  • Tribal Corporations

Other requirements:

  • You must be a US citizen with your business or agricultural operation in Washington County, ME to qualify for SCEC assistance with this program.
  • All projects must have technical merit and utilize commercially available technology.
  • Energy efficiency projects require an energy audit or assessment.
  • All projects require an environmental review prior to award or construction
  • Additional funding for eligible projects through Efficiency Maine, Energy Star or other energy conservation program incentives.

Funding limits and availability for eligible projects:

25% Grant (Renewable Energy $2,500 to $1MM, Energy Efficiency $1,500 to $500,000)

    • Project is a Renewable Energy System (RES), or RES retrofit that produces zero greenhouse gas emissions (Carbon Dioxide, Methane, Nitrous Oxide, or Fluorinated Gases) at the project level.
    • Project is located in an Energy Community as defined in 26 USC 45(b)(11)(B) and determined by the Department of the Treasury.
    • Project is an Energy Efficiency Improvement (EEI).
    • Project is proposed from an eligible Tribal Corporation or other Tribal Business entity (including agriculture operations) as described in 7 CFR part 4280.
    • All other projects are limited to 25% Federal grant share
    • Other program requirements may apply
