The Machias Comprehensive Planning Committee is pleased to announce the release of its Community Survey. The survey is an essential part of the Town’s comprehensive planning process and offers residents the chance to share input on housing, land use, public services, economic development, natural resources, and more.
The information collected will help guide the policies and strategies of Machias’ new Comprehensive Plan, which serves as the Town’s roadmap for growth, investment, and preservation over the next decade.
All residents, year-round and seasonal, are strongly encouraged to participate.
To make access easy, the Committee will be distributing an Every Door Direct Mail flyer to all Machias households. The flyer will include a QR code that links directly to the online survey available at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/MachiasCompPlan. In addition, printed copies of the survey will be available at the Machias Town Office, located at 17 Stackpole Road.
Residents are also invited to attend Comprehensive Planning Committee meetings, held on the first and third Monday of each month at 5:00 p.m. These meetings are open to the public, cover specific chapters of the Comprehensive Plan, and provide a venue for discussion, feedback, and collaboration. Residents may contact the Machias Town Office or visit the Town’s website to learn what topics will be discussed at upcoming meetings. Participation in the survey and meetings will ensure that the plan reflects the priorities of the community, helping to guide Machias toward a future that supports its residents, economy, and natural resources.
