Piper Burgess of Cherryfield

We’re happy to announce that Piper Burgess of Cherryfield had the winning design in Sunrise County Economic Council’s “Power to the People” art contest!

Piper’s creative and safety-minded artwork captured one of the safety messages in the Buzz the Beaver series focused on “risk trees.” A tree within 10 feet of a power line, especially one that is leaning toward a power line, is called a “risk tree” and should be trimmed by a professional arborist. Ensuring that risk trees are cut down safely keeps our communities safe and ensures that the power reliably stays on.

Piper’s artwork is featured on stickers, rack cards, and brochures available at local events and resource fairs across the region.

Congratulations, again, to Piper, and thanks to the Island Institute for supporting this initiative!
