Climate Change and Resilience Survey

We are inviting people in Maine who live, work and serve in rural communities to share their thoughts and concerns related to climate change and resilience.

The goal of this study is to provide feedback to the Maine Climate Council and state officials about the needs, interests and concerns of rural Mainers. This is a chance for rural Mainers to have a voice in policies that will affect them directly. The study is being led by Dr. Tora Johnson of Sunrise County Economic Council in collaboration with a team at the University of Maine led by Dr. Sharon Klein.

Note: You must be 18 or older to participate in this survey. Please select the link to the survey below that is most appropriate to your situation:

FishAbility, a Working Waterfront Resource

FishAbility, a Working Waterfront Resource

The majority of working waterfront folks that I know envision working in their careers for the rest of their lives. Due to much of this work being physically demanding and repetitive, it’s no surprise that there are many that work aboard a boat that are also impacted by varying degrees of arthritis in the joints of their back, wrists, hands, knees, and ankles. We know other injuries can happen as we know many that have lost a finger or two (or more) to accidents that have occurred. Given the level of physical activity required, when injury or disability occur, this could put the goal of working that career for the rest of their lives at risk.
