NOTICE: The Sunrise Scholarship Fund is closed until Fall 2017
The Sunrise Scholarship Fund provides scholarships up to $500 for Washington County residents, of low-to-moderate income, who will be attending a training and/or certification program that will increase their opportunities for immediate employment or job advancement.
These scholarships cannot be used to pay for training that has other sources of financial aid, such as college or university degree programs, though the classes can be through a college or university. This can be one class, such as a spreadsheet or word processing course, or a short certification program, such as Certified Residential Medications Aide. Scholarships will not be considered for classes taken for self-enrichment. Funds can be used only for tuition and must be used within six months of approval date.
Thanks to the generous support of the Eaton Foundation, this program (begun in 2007 with a focus on the healthcare sector), has been expanded to include all sectors which require specialized training or certification. Scholarships have helped to pay for everything from Certified Residential Medications Aide to advanced automotive repair.
Funding from the Boston Foundation and the Next Generation Foundation have allowed this program to expand even further.
Washington County Employers
- Do you have an employee who could benefit from taking classes or other training?
- Could this employee become eligible for promotion?
- Would you be willing to give them the time off to attend training?
- Do you not have a tuition reimbursement program already in place?
The Sunrise Scholarship Fund can assist your employees (who meet the guidelines) in paying for training that will lead to increased job opportunities.
